The St. Augustine Inlet

Traversed daily by deep draft fishing trawlers, this  well-marked inlet is almost always an easy passage for pleasure craft, although any inlet on the east coast can be uncomfortable or difficult in a nor’easter. This inlet is well-marked with channel buoys; has a sea buoy at its east end and roughly lines up on the 208-foot high cross to the west, by day and a white one second strobe by night is dredged frequently enough to insure safe passage for ten foot draft trawlers. Buoys may be shifted slightly, but are usually in a nearly straight line to and from the black and white lighted sea buoy.
